El City visita este domingo un Liverpool que es décimo en la clasficación de la Premier League con la opción de ampliar la diferencia de puntos respecto al gran rival de las últimas campañas a 16.
Pero Pep Guardiola aseguró en la previa que no considera que el puesto en la tabla del conjunto de Jürgen Klopp tenga ningún efecto sobre el duelo en Anfield.
“La clasificación no juega ningún partido”, declaró Pep. “El partido se decidirá por lo que pase en el césped, no por quién esté delante de quién”.
“Siempre es complicado como lo ho sido durante todos estos años en los que hemos peleado juntos. Un partido duro, no lo vamos a descubrir nada especial a estas alturas”.
In some quarters, Liverpool are being written off in the Premier League title race this season.
But Guardiola says that talk is premature.
And he stresses that they “always have been and always will be” City’s biggest rivals.
He added: “I know the quality they have and they know the quality we have.
“If we get this question with 10 games left, I would say Liverpool cannot catch Arsenal. But with the World Cup, anything can happen.
“In the last years we fought for all the titles and were close. We were a little bit better, especially in the Premier League. But nothing changes the opinion I have of them.”
