Fernandinho can’t wait for Jesus’ arrival

Fernandinho says he thinks Gabriel Jesus will be a big success in the Premier League.

The 19-year-old forward showed flashes of his exciting talent when he scored twice for Brazil against Ecuador on Friday evening – his first an improvised flick and the near post and the second a thumping drive from 20 yards – and linked up well alongside Neymar.

Jesus becomes a City player in the New Year and Blues’ fans are understandably thrilled at thought of the teenager linking up with Sergio Aguero and Kelechi Iheanacho in attack later this season.

“I’ve watched some games while he was playing with Palmeiras and I really like him,” said Fernandinho.

“He did well during the Olympics and scored twice on his full debut against Ecuador so he’s doing really well and is a great talent.

“He has helped take Palmeiras to the top of the league and City have done a great job by bringing him to the Club.”

Fernandinho, who has made an excellent start to the new season, believes Jesus’ natural talent will blossom with City and under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, he expects his compatriot to make a big impact.

“He is a true Brazilian player and plays with style, likes to dribble a lot and plays with the kind of flair associated with Brazil footballers,” he said.

“People back home have been saying a lot of good things about him and when Neymar left for Barcelona, he became the player in the spotlight.

“Of course, he is very young and needs to improve and grow but in all honesty I can’t wait for him to arrive and start playing for us because I think he will do really well for us.”
