PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year Lauren Hemp signed for City in May 2018.

The striker joined the Club from Bristol City, having bagged nine goals in an impressive 2017/18 campaign – including a stunning Goal of the Season contender against Arsenal.

The 18-year-old sports the number 15 shirt for the Blues and is eager to continue her rapid development with the Club she admires most, working alongside her idols.

Hemp, who began her career at hometown club Norwich before making the move to Bristol aged just 16, describes her playing style as creative and direct. A natural goalscorer, she shines in the final third with her desire to run at players and create chances.

Watching fellow youngsters such as Georgia Stanway, Ellie Roebuck and Esme Morgan gain first team minutes at the Academy Stadium, Hemp added City’s dedication to player development and clear pathway were major factors in her decision.

Hemp’s ambition, attitude and impressive displays earned the striker plenty of individual acclaim.

In addition to her PFA accolade, Hemp also scooped the England Young Player of the Year award in 2017 and was named a SportsAid ‘One To Watch’.

Despite her youth and the attention surrounding her, the humble forward is determined to remain grounded in a bid to reach the highest level.

She has been a regular name in City’s 2018/19 cup adventures, scoring her first goal for the Club in the 4-0 triumph at Aston Villa and bagging in the 3-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur.

She also played a role in the 2019 Conti Cup Final triumph over Arsenal and has since earned her first call-up to England’s senior squad for the SheBelieves Cup tournament in America.

In the 2019 FA Cup final, Hemp came off the bench to score City’s third goal, lifting the ball over the ‘keeper from the edge of the area and sealing the victory.
